Frequently Asked Questions

Dormitory Check-in
Check-in will be held at the Peterson Heritage Center which is located at 151 Connor St – University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT 84112 Tel: (801) 587-2000. Check-in will be held between the hours of 6AM and Midnight. If you wish to check-in outside these times you must contact Kerry McKenzie in advance via email summer@guesthouse.utah.edu. or call (801) 587 2000.

Dormitory Check-out
Check-out is by 10am daily. Participants can check-out at the Heritage Center front desk between 6am and midnight. If someone needs a check-out after hours, please email summer@guesthouse.utah.edu.. The Heritage Center does provide luggage storage if needed.

Dining Facilities (Campus)
The dining facility closest to the dormitories is the Heritage Center, which is an all you care to eat dining hall. Breakfast is $6.05 plus sales tax and dinner is $8.80 plus tax. Breakfast is available from 6:30 am to 9 am and dinner is served from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. For lunch your participants will be on lower campus, there is a food court on campus close to the School of Music. This is a a la carte facility and the average for lunch is about $6 - $7.

There is also a food court at the Student Union building close to the School of Music.

Parking
The ITF has arranged for free parking at the Football Stadium (Rice Eccles) lot from May 28-31. This parking lot is located between the TRAX station and the Stadium (on the downhill side of the Stadium). This lot may be accessed from 500 South, or South Campus Drive. It is then a short walk (heading North) along University Street to the School of Music at President’s Circle. Participants staying in the dorms can park at the dorm housing and then walk (10-15 minutes) to the School of Music or take the Train (TRAX). The dorm parking lot is $3 for 5 days.

Note: Parking on the streets or at a meter is not recommended, as parking regulations are enthusiastically enforced all year!

Registration/Information Desk is available in the lobby of the School of Music (outside the Libby Gardner Concert Hall) and Trombone Check (inside the Thompson Chamber Music Hall) at the following times:

Wednesday, May 28 ~ 8:30 am - 6:00 pm
Thursday, May 29 ~ 8:30 am - 6:00 pm
Friday, May 30 ~ 8:30 am - 6:00 pm
Saturday, May 31 ~ 8:30 am - 2:00 pm

Directions to Main Campus
From the Salt Lake International Airport: Take I-80 East approximately 1.5 miles to the North Temple exit. Follow North Temple approximately 3 miles to State Street (one block beyond the Mormon Temple). Turn right on State Street, and go south 5 blocks to 400 South. Turn left, proceeding east on 400 South for approximately 1.5 miles until you reach the University of Utah campus. The School of Music is located on President's Circle.

From I-15 northbound: Take the eastbound 600 South exit. At State Street turn left, proceeding 2 blocks north until you reach 400 South. Turn right, proceeding east on 400 South for approximately 2 miles until you reach the University of Utah campus. The School of Music is located on President's Circle.

From I-15 southbound: Take the eastbound 600 North exit. At 300 West turn right, proceeding aproximately 1.5 miles south until you reach 400 South. Turn left, proceeding east on 400 South for approximately 2 miles until you reach the University of Utah campus. The School of Music is located on President's Circle.

Airport Transfers
The Campus is located about 20 minutes from the airport. If you have not yet organised airport transfers, we recommend Xpress Shuttle. Reservations can be made online in advance or by phone 1-800-397-0773
